Blackberry 5320 virgin mobile?

I live in the US and just got my berry but I can not access the internet or use bbm. I paid for the 10 dollar blackberry service. I registered my device and keep receiving text say it is registered to the blackberry network but its not working... Near the bars it says 1VEX if that helps... pls can anyone help
