Any downloadable messengers for blackberry?

My friend's laptop broke, and his blackberry does not work in America, since he is from Canada. He is using WiFi to go on Ebuddy, but he's complaining all the time! The MSN nor bbm are not working even though he is connected to WiFi. Are there any downloadable messenger services that he can use on his blackberry with WiFi?
